Michael Cangemi, Doctor of Dental Surgery Joins PCHC’s Dental Center as Associate Residency Director
Penobscot Community Health Care (PCHC) is pleased to announce that Michael Cangemi, DDS, has joined its Dental Center at 1048 Union Street, Bangor. Dr. Cangemi will provide high-quality oral health care and serve as Associate Director of the General Practice Dental Residency Program.
An undergraduate of University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, Dr. Cangemi received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan School of Dental Medicine and completed a General Practice Residency at USPHS Hospital, Baltimore, MD. Dr. Cangemi has 30 years of experience in Dentistry, as well as an extensive background in public health and American Indian/Alaskan Native Health Services. Dr. Cangemi also has experience in providing international missionary and voluntary dental care at multiple sites. Prior to joining Penobscot Community Health Care, Dr. Cangemi provided oral health services at Health Access Family Dental Program, Lincoln, ME. Christopher Maller, DMD, FADSA, Chief Dental Officer, Residency Director, states, “Dr. Cangemi is a remarkably well educated and experience dentist, and PCHC is so fortunate to have been able to attract such an outstanding individual. Dr. Cangemi brings to the General Practice Residency a level of knowledge and maturity necessary to run a top notch program. He is everyone “favorite professor” and thus has had a positive influence on the residents, staff and patients alike.”
PCHC’s Dental Center has recently undergone renovations to support the expansion of its Accredited General Dental Residency Program, to accommodate 6 new residents, and the opening of Maine’s only 2-year Accredited Pediatric Dental Residency Program. The expansion will support the training of dentists and allow PCHC to provide more patients with high-quality oral health care. PCHC also provides dental services at their dental practice at Helen Hunt Health Center, 242 Brunswick Street, Old Town, and offers Walk-In Dental Care at the Dental Center on Union Street in Bangor Monday-Friday, 8am to 4pm.
