Penobscot Community Health Care (PCHC) is pleased to announce that Justin Karrel, DMD, and Megan Ryan, DMD, have joined PCHC’s Dental Center as full-time staff dentists upon graduation from PCHC’s General Practice Dental Residency Program.  Christopher Maller, DMD, FADSA, Chief Dental Officer and Residency Director, states, “Dr. Karrel and Dr. Ryan are well known to PCHC’s Dental Center, having completed our General Practice Residency Program. They are well-trained dentists dedicated to providing the highest quality of dental care for their patients.  Several of the major goals of the General Practice Residency have been fulfilled which are  to attract the best and the  brightest recent graduates to the state, enhance their training and experience through the residency program,  and then have them stay in Maine to treat our under-serviced citizens.  It is gratifying to see the program function as it was intended and we are happy to have them on our staff.”

Justin Karrel, DMD, is an undergraduate of Messiah College, Grantham, PA, and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, graduating Cum Laude from University of Massachusetts Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Boston, MA.  Dr. Karrel completed a Clinical Externship at Lynn Community Health Center, Lynn, MA, and year-long General Practice Residency at the Dental Center on PCHC’s main Bangor campus.

Megan Ryan, DMD, is an undergraduate of University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI and received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, graduating Cum Laude from University of Massachusetts Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Boston, MA.  Dr. Ryan completed a Clinical Externship at Dental Health Works, Keene, NH, and year-long General Practice Residency at the Dental Center on PCHC’s main Bangor campus.

PCHC’s Dental Center has recently undergone renovations to support the expansion of its Accredited General Dental Residency Program, to accommodate 6 new residents, and the opening of Maine’s only 2-year Accredited Pediatric Dental Residency Program.  The expansion will support the training of dentists and allow PCHC to provide more patients with high-quality oral health care.  PCHC also provides dental services at their dental practice at Helen Hunt Health Center, 242 Brunswick Street, Old Town, and offers Walk-In Dental Care at the Dental Center on Union Street in Bangor Monday-Friday, 8am to 4pm.  For more information, visit www.PCHC.com or call 207-992-2154.
