Hope House Homeless Shelter announces successful conclusion of its first “Auction for Hope” on Sunday, May 1.

The auction, which was held at Hollywood Slots in Bangor, raised over $7,000 dollars in less than two hours.
Participants in the day’s events were treated to the auctioning talents of Rev. Robert Carlson who kept the crowd entertained and urged high bids.  Over 100 people participated in the auction raising money for the 64 bed emergency shelter; the 2nd largest shelter in the state of Maine.  The Hope House is an emergency homeless shelter licensed by MSHA and the Office of Substance Abuse.

Hope House, with the support and vision of Penobscot Community Health Care, PCHC, is providing an integrated medical model of care to the homeless consisting of access to medical care, psychiatric care, and case management services.  Consistent with the mission statement of PCHC involving “Access to All,” Hope House provides emergency shelter to our most vulnerable in our city, offering needed services to the homeless.
Hope House is the community safety net in Bangor managing the city of Bangor’s overflow of homeless persons from other shelters.  Hope House is running at 130% capacity serving 80 plus homeless persons a night with the emergency shelter.

PCHC, the parent organization of the Hope House, extends its thanks to Hollywood Slots whose support of the event was invaluable to the organization for this first annual event.
